Critics have already hailed this, the tenth movie in the franchise as “The Best”. Rare that a horror film gains cult status from the very first film, but this one of the goriest horror movie franchises to ever hit the screen deserved it from the get go.
The latest instalment has been directed and edited by Kevin Greutert, who previously helmed Saw VI (2009) and Saw 3D (2010). Greutert also served as the editor of the first five Saw movies and the eighth instalment, Jigsaw (2017).
Saw X was released in theatre in the UK & US on 29th September and the rest of the world will see the latest in the franchise staggered between now and December.
Saw X is set between the events of the first and second films of the franchise, taking you back about 20yrs in the timeline. Distributor Lionsgate said in an official statement that “its the most disturbing instalment of the franchise” and they aren’t wrong! Critics have unanimously agreed that Saw X has edge-of-the-seat scares backed by outstanding performances by its cast, the best film in the franchise!
So what are we to expect from this new addition to the franchise?
We see serial killer John Kramer aka Jigsaw travel to Mexico to find an urgent cure for his illness. There, he discovers a significant scam, which left many people, especially the most vulnerable, ruined.
Jigsaw decides to teach the con artists a lesson in his very own special way with brutal traps which are nearly impossible to escape. So expect to see plenty of gore and unique and ingenious ways of killing people.
