The shootout between Microsoft & CMA, is over and Microsoft has come out as winners. Microsoft said on Friday that is had closed the deal and purchased video game giant Activision Blizzard after having to jump through hoops to please the regulators.

Microsofts acquisition of Activision is the largest consumer tech acquisition since AOL purchased Time Warner over two decades ago. The $69Billion deal finally went through last week after it won the approval of British regulators of Friday.

The gaming cloud based industry alone in the UK is expected to be worth £1Billion by 2026, with the gaming industry globally currently worth $250Billion and the fastest growing part of the industry is cloud gaming which allows gamers to stream games from remote servers rather than buy a disc or cartridge for their games consoles.

The CMA we’re the last hurdle Microsoft to jump after European regulators dropped their objections ad US courts ruled in favour of Microsoft to take over Activision.

Cloud based gaming gives gamers the ability to open the door to global gaming and the ability to play against millions of potential opponents.
