Since the closure of Greenbridge Retail Parks Empire Cinema, the people of Swindon has been hopeful another cinema brand would take over the site at Greenbridge Retail Park
On Friday 7th July notice went up in the Former Empire Cinema windows after a staff were called into a meeting where they were told they had all lost their jobs due to the Empire Cinema chain going into administration.

On Monday 9th October, a new hope for the former Empire Cinema in had been placed in the windows of the Greenbridge site stating Vue Entertainment Ltd had applied for a licence for the premises from the Swindon Borough Council fuelling hopes the cinema will open again soon.
On Friday Vue Cinemas listed jobs for Vue Cinema Swindon on indeed.com – job listings included General Manager & Customer Assistants. We were unable to get hold of Vue Cinemas for comment, but it does look like another step closer to the doors re-opening.

Currently Vue Cinemas have over 90 sites across the UK, with one of them being at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol and if this site has any indication of how the Greenbridge site could look then the people of Swindon will be greeted with a fresh look to their cinema experience, including VIP seating which promises an enhanced viewing experience and we at Entertainment Swindon can account for the awesome cinema experience at the Cribbs site enjoying the VIP seats stretched out as if we were at home with a prime positioned unobstructed view of the screen.

If you’re a Sky Cinema subscriber, then you’re in for an extra treat, as Vue & Sky have linked up offering Sky Cinema subscribers two FREE tickets every month.
