This week marks the beginning of the new solar cycle in the calendar – celebrated as part of Pongal and Sakranti in India – and to mark the occasion Vue Swindon is showcasing a selection of highly anticipated South Asian films.

Not one but three Tamil titles will be arriving at Vue venues across the country on Friday. Action thriller Captain Miller is set in 1930s India, following a former British soldier as he vows to protect his family and village from the army he used to serve for.

Also heading to the big screen this weekend is Ayalaan, following a lost alien who seeks help to go back to his home and Merry Christmas, following Albert as he meets beautiful and mysterious Maria for an evening of romance that quickly turns into a nightmare

Two special previews are taking place this Thursday (11 January) at Vue. The first is Telugu-language Guntur Karam, which sees the king of the underworld fall in love with a journalist working to expose the illegal activities in the city. Next is HanuMan, also in Telugu, set in an imaginary place called Anjanadri where the protagonist gets the powers of Hanuman.

Also arriving on screens at the end of the month (26 January) is Hindi film Fighter, which sees top IAF aviators join forces to form the Air Dragoons in the face of imminent danger.

Steve Legg, General Manager at Vue Swindon, said: “At Vue we pride ourselves on celebrating cinema from across the globe and we couldn’t be happier to be showcasing some of the most exciting South Asian films of the year to mark Pongal and Sankranti. We would encourage film lovers from all cultures to check out these fantastic selections of films.”
