The announcement of the the festival on their website www.swindonfestivalofliterature.co.uk in partnership with ‘Artswords’ and a number of other Swindon based organisations.
Matt Holland who has spearheaded the festivals team since way back to its beginning 30yrs ago announced he would be stepping down last year said that he had changed his mind.

Matt Holland announced “Apropos of my statement in May ‘23, saying that I would not be organising a festival in 2024, please note that circumstances have changed, as has my mind, for which, though pleased, I apologise, for misleading you, and myself.
“You see, positive new factors have come into play which mean that, in ’24, it looks like I’ll still be at the helm, in the festival engine room, even scrubbing the decks, with good help from a kindly crew.
“So, happily, and with the promise of terrific authors, artists, performers, workshops, and events on board, this Festival ship sails on in the sometimes choppy but always culture-cool waters of Swindon.”
The message continued: “These are likely to include LitFest standing dishes such as the ever-popular Dawn Chorus (6th May) and fabulous Festival Finale (12th May); a series of fascinating Author Talks and Presentations at the Arts Centre, in Waterstones Bookshop, in Bert’s Bookshop, and at Swindon Central Library; a selection of Artswords Writing Workshops; a Poetry in the Park Day and Poetry Performance/Reading event (8th May); a second Flash Fiction Slam; a new Film night; intriguing Story-walks and Story-telling events; a make-your-own Book Binding Course (11th May); and a brimful Children & Families Activities Day at Lower Shaw Farm (12th May).
“On Bank Holiday Monday 6th May, the Festival is particularly excited to be supporting and helping to promote a brand-new one-day all-day circus and outdoor arts festival in Lawn Woods, especially for Swindon. Full details to follow!”
