A tropical paradise has been created in the centre of what was a desolate stretch of redundant farm fields and marshland in South Wiltshire. It has now been transformed into a butterfly farm and animal park.

The butterfly farm is the jewel in the crown of a complex that includes art and handicraft units, ceramic and stained glass workshops, painting and photographic studios, together with a garden centre that is one of the most up-to-date and comprehensive in its range in the country.

At Butterfly World, one of the largest in Britain, visitors can see up to 30 species of butterfly – with hundreds flying around at any one time – in the 600sqm hot house. Over 200 varieties of tropical plant add colour and exotica to the atmosphere in the attractively laid out centre, with its little streams and rustic bridges, waterfalls and fishponds.

You may be lucky enough to see a butterfly emerging from its pupae. Enter the reptile room where you will come face to face with snakes, lizards, frogs and a tarantula. Visitors can also feed our very hungry koi.

There’s much more than butterflies a Studley Grange, much, much more. Studley Grange has a reptile room where you will come face to face with snakes, lizards, frogs and even a tarantula.

As you pass through the zoo area at Studley Grange, you’ll find our expansive farm park. Here you’ll meet all your farmyard favourites – and they’ll love meeting you!

Rabbits, chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl, guinea pigs, cows, pigs, goats, sheep and lambs (seasonal) and alpacas are all available to see. We even have two cheeky donkeys!

In summer, we also offer trailer rides where you can jump onboard for a fun ride seeing our animals out in the fields, with commentary from one of our keepers.

Meet Squirrels, meerkats, Rigby the raccoon, wallabies, terrapins, and a Sulcata tortoise! All part of our zoo area that leads from Butterfly World to our Farm Park.

Meerkats are magic! Plus what a l-otter fun!

On the way you can say hello to our meerkats. Rigby our raccoon also likes to be centre of attention, so don’t forget to say hello to him, too! Check out our Patagonian Mara and our lazy skunks Timmy and Tallulah.

Feeding times are an especially good time to see our animals interacting with their keepers, they take place at 1.30pm (Raccoon), 3pm (Owl) and 3.30pm (Meerkat) daily. Extra activities are added to the schedule during weekends and holidays.

Zoo Keeper Experience (Minimum Age of 10 years old)

And if you want to get really up-close and personal with some of our zoo animals, why not try one of our Keeper Experiences, where we offer people the chance to join us ‘inside’ some of the enclosures to carry out routine feeding and husbandry tasks!
