The 31st of January this year saw the Highworth Community Larder reach its first birthday. A small gathering was held in celebration of its first anniversary at Westrop School on the 1st February to thank all the volunteers and supporters who have worked tirelessly to make it a success by not only to help the community during this national living crisis, but also saving 8944kg of surplus food waste from going into landfill.

The enjoyable evening was attended by Keith Smith, Mayor of Highworth who gave a speech recognising the hard work of the volunteers and the generosity of donors before cutting the community larders anniversary cake.

The success doesn’t stop there, the group were also given a 5 Star rating from their Environmental Health Inspection. The group is now looking forward to another successful year.

The Highworth Community Larder aims to reduce food waste in the community, as well as supplying this food to the local community at no cost and providing support and advice.
