Ever wondered what would happen if a modern-day action movie captured the essence of classic action movie favourites like Rambo, Comando, Reacher, and Walking Tall? Then look no further!
Netflix’s newest upcoming action release, Rebel Ridge, promises just just that! As we eagerly await its release, let’s dive into why this movie has piqued the interest of action aficionados worldwide.
Rebel Ridge has several similarities with the original Rambo movie which makes it a perfect replacement to carry the torch of the Rambo franchise with Stallone being an age where the Rambo Franchise has little room to go anywhere past the the previous movie Last Blood.
Its over 40yrs since Rambo First Blood hit the big screen and although many movies have tried to emilate its perfect formula of action and character driven drama, most have failed to match its legacy. However, we could be in for an exciting treat with the Netflix upcoming release starring English actor Aaron Pierre in the lead role as US Marine Terry Richmond up against small town corrupt police chief Sandy Burnne played by Don Johnson.

Scheduled for release on Netflix in the UK on 6th September 2024, which should have been released earlier in the year, but put back due to COVID, Rebel Ridge which was originally supposed to star John Boyega from Star Wars in the lead role is now finally set for release next month.
The officially released trailer of Rebel Ridge by Netflix shows many of the comparisons to Stallone’s Rambo First Blood, both follow a misunderstood war veteran who both end up waging war on a local small town police force. In Rebel Ridge, marine veteran Terry Richmond wages war against a corrupt small town police force after one of the towns corrupt police officers seize money that he was going to use to post bail for his cousin.
In both films, the two lead characters take on the numerically superior police establishments as a one man army with the advantage of being highly trained combat veterans, showing more similarities between both movies. Rebel Ridge, however shows parallels to other action movies such as Walking Tall & Reacher where a military veteran goes up against a corrupt police force.
Rebel Ridge has definitely gone down the route of Rambo First Blood & Walking Tall with a tried and tested formula of success, making it an exciting wait for the upcoming movie, especially as whilst we wait for season 3 of Jack Reacher on Amazon which is likely not to air until 2025.

So we wait in anticipation for Rebel Ridge release on Netflix 6th September.
