A proven goalscorer at both Boreham Wood and Chesterfield, Tshimanga now joins Town looking to replicate similar goalscoring form that saw him score 74 goals in 141 appearances that originally earned him the move to League One Peterborough United back in January 2023.
The 27-year-old forward joins us in SN1 off the back of a loan spell with then-League One side Fleetwood Town for the first half of the 2023-24 season, before rejoining former side Boreham Wood for the remainder of last season, which saw him score seven times in 16 appearances.
Tshimanga will look to offer a different threat in Town’s attacking front line, linking up with the likes of Paul Glatzel, Harry Smith and Aaron Drinan as Town’s forward players to pose a new kind of element to the options Mark Kennedy has going forward.
Upon signing for Swindon Town, Town’s latest signing said: “I’m buzzing to be here.
“It’s one I had to be quite patient with and I know the interest has been for a couple of weeks but happy now it’s all done.
“Goals have always been a part of my game and I think I’m different to the other attacking options we have here already.
“I think I offer a bit of a blend of everything in terms of my own game and how I like to play.
“I’ve always got an eye for goal too, so I’m looking forward to replicating that here.”
Following Tshimanga’s arrival, Head of Football Jamie Russell, also added: “Kabongo is a powerful, dynamic centre-forward who can play on the shoulder and gives us a threat in behind the opposition’s back-line.
“What he also offers is that he’s a good link forward too and can offer a different kind of attacking threat to our front line to what we already have at Swindon Town.
“He’s got an eye for goals, that much is clear with his spells at Chesterfield and Boreham Wood and is a proven goalscorer.
“It’s well documented we’ve tracked him for a little while and we’re looking forward to finally having him on board with us for the 2024/25 season.”
Kabongo Tshimanga becomes our latest addition of the 2024-25 summer transfer window, and we look forward to seeing him in action as a Town player.
