This weekend saw the Jungle is Massive legend General Levy come to Swindon in support of local urban artist Mbulelo Mtandana known as Silver Star.

Silver’s second music video hot off the heels of his debut song Boda Boda, which was used by the Tanzanian government as their national road safety campaign which has already had tens of thousands of streams across a number of platforms, airplay across Africa and back here in the UK has been played on BBC Radio is set to be released before the end of the year.
The new song, titled ‘Put Me Down’ is a song that everyone can get behind and understand the message. We have gone through two years of covid straight into a financial living crisis that has hit everyone, people have lost jobs, businesses, property. It’s as if life has got ahead of us and tried to put us down. It’s also a story of Swindon, the idea behind using iconic buildings such as the Oasis that has seen its own Put Me Down story. We are all very quick to put Swindon down, a town centre with boarded up shop fronts, no department store and continued work on the centre with delay after delay and budgets going through the roof. But there are some amazing things to see and do in Swindon.
This coupled with a back story akin to the Rocky story, the music video follows a guy in a dead-end job with an abusive boss. A boxing promoter and gym owner takes him away and train’s him ready for a title fight.
“The song is more than just about life putting you down, it’s about getting back up, its motivational, it’s about winning through.” Say’s Silver Star.
General Levy came on board to support Silver, both on the track and in the video. Something Levy has been seen doing with other up and coming artists. Entertainment Swindon was on location of the making of the music video that looks amazing!
Speaking to Silver Star, he said: “It was a very long day filming, and some tough scenes. The fight scenes were real, we wanted it to be realistic, so when I’m in the ring with professional fighter Sugar Shaun Grant, he really is hitting me!”
Silver went on to say: “The gym and fight scenes took over 4hrs of filming, that was a big workout! I thank everyone who supported the video, my manager Mike Buss who arranged all the locations and kept the filming on track, General Levy for being a part of this, it was amazing that I have Levy on my new music video, Mark Neilson for allowing us to use his gym and for arranging a gym full of boxers and coaches to help make everything look realistic, Highworth Breakers for allowing us to film at their yard, Sugar Shawn Grant for being involved with the fight scene and of course TKV Visual for filming the video.

The video is now in post production and hopefully will be ready release very soon, Im really excited and cant wait to see it! It’s going to be bigger and better than even Boda Boda!”
To top off the weekend, General Levy performed at Chippenham’s Club e11evn where he performed to a buzzing crowd and invited Silver Star on stage to perform an exclusive first live performance of Put Me Down.

The clubs manager Wes Commons said “What an incredible performance from the iconic legend! He never fails to draw in the crowd. An amazing night had by all!”

Speaking to Silver about the future, and whats next, he said: “Well, we’ve got to get Put Me Down ready to put out to the public, promote the song and then chose which song we work on next. I’ve been writing and in the studio a lot, so have a lot of songs ready, its just choosing which will be best to put out next. I’ve been chatting to some more big names about collaborating which is exciting and will be planning a trip back to Tanzania in the new year to support the Boda Boda road safety campaign and do a few live performances, so really exciting times ahead going into 2025”.
