Saturday 9th November saw the Festival of Light open to the public, as the Wiltshire estate celebrates the 10th anniversary of its enchanting winter spectacle.
This magical experience will showcase over 1,000 stunning lanterns, meticulously crafted from 40,000 metres of fabric, 45,000 lightbulbs, 50,000 metres of light strips, and 150 tons of metal.
The spectacular displays will guide visitors on a journey through time – from the age of the dinosaurs, through ancient Egypt and the Roman Empire, to the present day. Visitors will also encounter Queen Elizabeth I, who graced Longleat with her presence 450 years ago.
A highlight of the evening will be the immersive light show projected onto Longleat House. Marking the 75th anniversary of the estate opening its doors to the public, this breathtaking display will tell the story of Longleat’s transformation – from its beginnings to the launch of the world’s first drive-through safari park outside Africa.
In addition to the lantern displays, guests can marvel at the famous Singing Christmas Tree, standing over 15 metres tall and adorned with 88,000 twinkling lights. Other festive attractions include the Santa Train, where Father Christmas awaits in a magical snow-covered wonderland, as well as the winter drive-through safari and Animal Adventure activities.
Longleat’s Head of Operations, Scott Ashman, said: “The Festival of Light this year combines stunning artistry with a compelling narrative, using lights, sound, and immersive displays to bring the estate’s rich history to life.”
Join the team from Longleat for a magical evening at Longleat and be among the first to witness the Festival of Light’s extraordinary displays.
