Highworth’s high street gained a new addition at the weekend as Blunsdon couple Giji & Bincy Victor officially opened their new restaurant ‘United Kochi’. The authentic South Indian restaurant was officially opened by both the Mayor of Highworth & Swindon, who cut the ribbon before the public were welcomed into the newly decorated restaurant that was once Rafu’s.
The restaurant has been beautifully decorated to give a both a fresh contemporary homely and traditional look, with photos of the coastal city of Kochi mixed with traditional art, as well as art personally created by Giji Victor himself.
People attending the opening were treated to a mix of food that will be found on the menu, as the restaurant opens fully to customers this evening (Monday 2nd December). The menu promises to give people a truly authentic taste experience of South Indian flavours, taking you on a journey through the diverse flavours of Kerala, India, offering a blend rich in heritage, creating an extraordinary dining experience of Kochi.
Speaking to the Mayor of Highworth, Julie Murphy, she said: “Its lovely, really homely. It’s really exciting for Highworth, offering something different and unique, not just for Highworth, but for Swindon too”.
We also caught up with the Mayor of Swindon, Imtiyaz Shaikh who said: “Its a really interesting concept that will introduce people to new flavours that they would not have found in other Indian restaurants, and I encourage people to come and experience this new restaurant”.
