Vue marks ‘next generation of big screen entertainment’ with Swindon transformation.
Vue Swindon has officially unveiled its new luxury seating and a state-of-the-art retail concept, as the new look venue opened to the public today.
Entertainment Swindon were at the official press launch on Thursday to get the first look at the state of the art revamp of the Greenbridge cinema. The cinema is now un recognisable, fresh, cutting edge and fun. Even though the cinema has now launched with a self service experience, the award winning cinema chain has retained all staff from the re-fit to give an awesome experience from entering to sitting down in the most luxurious seats you will find in the UK, with only one other Vue cinema having the new Lux & Ultra Lux seats, to exiting the cinema.
Vue have spent a huge time, effort and dedication right down to the smallest of details, such as the choice of stitching in the new Lux seats, as well as the whole cinema experience.
Founder and CEO of Vue, Tim Richards CBE, who dubbed Vue Swindon’s new retail concept “the next generation of big screen entertainment”, was present along with Marina Strinkovsky, Cabinet Member for Placemaking and Planning at Swindon Council. Together they unveiled Vue Your Way: a unique retail concept that’s the first of its kind in the UK, as well as Ultra Lux, Vue’s most luxurious and comfortable seat yet.
Vue Your Way allows customers to carry out every step of their visit easily, seamlessly and at their own pace, from scanning their tickets and entering the foyer, to exploring and building their snack combo at the various stations before paying at the self-checkouts, with Vue team members stationed throughout to help.
Also, with emphasis remaining on providing the ultimate big screen experience, every screen at the venue is equipped with laser projection, Dolby sound, Vue’s reclining Lux leather seats, as well as the brand-new Ultra Lux seating, which is positioned in each screen to give a prime view, with extra space for food and drinks, with storage for belongings.

Tim added: “As the industry goes from strength to strength, we are making major investments in the future of our cinemas to ensure we’re providing our customers with the very best big screen experience. These include the introduction of Vue Your Way and Ultra Lux seating to Swindon, and will include further upgrades elsewhere in our estate throughout 2025 and beyond.”
Walking through the the doors, to grabbing your cup, hotdog, popcorn, sweets and drink is just so easy, with the flowing design that really thought about the experience of cinema goers.
There are so many firsts for the re-fit from the turn-styles as you enter the venue to the AI technology incorporated self service area that welcomes you as you walk through the doors. Speaking to Tim Richards as we sat down in the IMAX screen, he said: “This is the future of cinema here in Swindon, there is nothing here like this”.
Councillor Marina Strinkovsky, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Placemaking and Planning, said: “It’s great to see Vue invest in its Swindon cinema and it looks set to be a reel-y big improvement for residents.
“I know there was a lot of concern when the cinema initially closed in 2023 so I’m very happy to see Vue take over the site, invest in it and give the people of Swindon more opportunities to see the latest movies on the big screen.”
