New film experience for Swindon: Sofa Screenings has launched and this March they have a great line up of screenings in to comfort of the sofa!
The Create team are excited to offer something a little different for film lovers in and around Swindon – and it’s right in the heart of their studio space in the Carriage Works!
If you are tired of traveling to find inspiring independent cinema, or want to connect with people like you who LOVE film – then these new Sofa Screenings are for you!
First off for March is A Real Pain on Saturday 1st March starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin. Written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg.

Brutalist – Thursday 6th March
Ambitious and grand in scope, Brady Corbet’s cinematic epic chronicles the journey of László Tóth, a Hungarian architect, who escapes postwar Europe in the hopes of building a new life in America. He meets a wealthy industrialist one day after settling in Pennsylvania, who recognises the talent of Tóth and eventually changes his life.
Corbet’s depiction of the American Dream echoes the importance of resilience in artistic pursuit, and how such a message translates the boundaries of art to inspire and move its audiences.
Already considered a modern masterpiece, the film has garnered nominations for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. A marvel that has to be seen to be believed!

All We Imagine As Light – Saturday 8th March
All we Imagine as Light offers a poignant insight into another world. We follow the lives of two women working in the same hospital as they search for connection in the bustling and vibrant streets of Mumbai.
Payal Kapadia’s first fiction feature offers a captivating and hypnotic cinematic experience, bringing the mundanity of life in the vibrant city to screen. The film received the Grand Prix prize at Cannes Film Festival in 2024, and is the first film from India to compete in the Cannes Film Festival main competition since 1994. Kapadia explores profound thematic elements surrounding women and identity, making the film the perfect accompaniment to help celebrate International Women’s Day.

Inside Out 2 – Friday 14th March
Inside Out 2 follows Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust again as they struggle to balance Riley’s emotions when she begins a new chapter, High School. The team are thrown into the deep end and face new challenges as another emotion is introduced to the group, Anxiety. A heartwarming follow up to the success of the previous film, Pixar’s Inside Out 2 offers the same introspective and comedic exploration of burgeoning adolescence.

A Complete Unknown – Thursday 20th March
A Complete Unknown offers a glimpse into the astronomic beginnings of one of music’s most defining songwriters, Bob Dylan. Taking place in New York during the early 1960s, we see Dylan arrive with his guitar and an unwavering rebellious spirit.
The decade sees how his rise within the folk movement change American music forever, while he forms some of the most meaningful relationships in his life during a time of great artistic self- discovery.
A Complete Unknown provides Timothee Chalamet a platform to give a career defining performance, earning him an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Dylan. A must see musical biopic that celebrates a once in a generation talent.

The Apprentice – Saturday 22nd March
In 1970s New York, a young Donald Trump is seen as an up and coming young entrepreneur with hopes of making a name for himself outside of his father’s shadow. One day he meets Roy Cohn, a terrifyingly powerful and aggressive New York lawyer who offers to take Trump under his wing, eventually moulding him into a power hungry tyrant.
Ali Abbasi’s 4th feature film dazzles in the opulence of a growing New York economy while never shying away from the horror of one man’s hunger for power.
With show stopping performances from Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump (who has received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Trump), as well as Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn, the two embody their roles as the crooked New Yorkers and offer a feast of corruption and greed who are unwavering in their pursuit for power.

Sing Sing – Thursday 27th March
Based on a true story, we follow John “Divine G” Whitfield, an inmate at Sing Sing in New York. Imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. Whitfield finds solace and direction in the prison’s theatre group.
His hope is for the group to foster true rehabilitation within the prison, a beacon of hope for these men abused by the systems of power in place.
Sing Sing is fantastical in its style, capturing the beauty of theatre and the opportunity it brings for self discovery and self expression to be realised. Coleman Domingo’s performance as John “Divine G” Whitfield steals much of the show, with him receiving an Oscar nomination from this year’s Academy Awards.

To A Land Unknown – Saturday 29th March
To a Land Unknown follows Chatila, a Palestinian refugee, searching for a better life in Athens. He dreams of reuniting with his wife and son who he had to leave in Lebanon. Making money any way he can with his cousin, Reda, to help make his dreams of a place he can truly rest a reality.
Described by many as poignant and mesmerizing in its filmmaking, and thrilling in its storytelling, the film takes a socially conscious approach to its themes of identity, touching on how its main characters tackle their sense of belonging in a setting just as unforgiving as their situation before.
