Swindon’s youth darts players come together to raise over £2000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Prospect Hospice, with money still coming in.

Swindon Youth Darts came about when Clare Baker tried and failed to find a youth darts group for her 15yr old son. So after posting to Facebook, asking if any pubs would be willing to take allow an organised youth darts evening. The New Inn, Stratton was the first to answer, and soon after there was a regular group of 6-8 kids playing darts.

About a year later, Luke Littler stormed onto the darts scene and started to even make the main national news. In January 2024 off the back of this young lad taking it to the professional adult game, the Swindon Youth Darts group jumped to over 30 kids. Quickly realising The New Inn just wasn’t big enough for the growing group, Swindon Youth Darts were welcomed in to The Swiss Chalet in March 2024, where the group continues to meet today.

With Darts suddenly gaining a resurgence, especially from the youth community with Luke Littler becoming the most talked about name in the world of darts having won the 2025 World Championships and currently holding the world ranking of Number 2, the Swindon Youth Darts group has continued to grow in numbers.

Swindon Youth Darts has now gained sponsorship from Coles Scaffolding, Clements Building, Swindon Recycling and the hugely successful Swindon Darts Hub based in Gorse Hill.

Today, I took a visit to the Swindon Darts Hub in Gorse Hill, Swindon to check out how one drunken night turned into this amazing business for three ladies and a community for darts fans of Swindon. What an awesome idea! Looking forward to interviewing the girls very soon and finding out more about @SwindonDartsHub #entertainmentswindon #swindondartshub #darts #swindon #community #fyp

On Sunday 13th April, many of the Youth Darts Hub came together with the support of their sponsors and the parents to take on a 12hr darts marathon. Kids between 8 and 16 stepped up to the oche to keep the darts flying for the whole 12hrs in the name of charity, supporting Macmillan Cancer Trust and The Prospect Hospice.

The darts started flying at 10am and the kids rotating round the group stepping up to the oche all the way through to 10pm, raising over £2000 with more donations still coming in.

If you are interested in getting involved and starting up throwing darts, why not check out the Swindon Darts Hub in Cricklade Road, Gorse Hill. The team in store are fantastic. There you will not only get advice on the sport, how to get involved, learn how to play the game and of course find out about not only the Youth Darts Group, but also the Mens Darts League and Womens Darts League.
