Four Mothers

Edward, a thirty something emerging writer, faces an unexpected challenge after choosing to stay home from his US book tour to look after his elderly mother. This challenge comes in the form of three other mothers, offloaded on to him after his friends decide to go on a weekend break to Gran Canaria for Maspalomas Pride.
A weekend of chaos and appeasing each mother is in store for Edward, as well as a chance to examine his struggles while balancing his career prospects and his depleting self- worth in his own work and himself.
Winner of BFI London Festival’s Audience Award, this tender and heartwarming comedy revels in its exploration of loneliness and the connection formed between its main character and the four mothers.

Starring Steve Coogan, The Penguin Lessons follows Tom, a teacher starting a new job in a Buenos Aires boarding school in 1976. His teaching is interrupted by the fraught political violence taking place in Argentina, and spurs on a holiday to Uruguay where his life is changed after reluctantly rescuing a penguin from the beach.
Based on the memoir by Tom Michell, the film offers a touching story about an unexpected pair, with a surprisingly deep and political core.
