Calne unites for the VE Day 80th Anniversary with various events throughout the town. Look to website and social media info below for more information.
Get ready to join the organisers of Calne’s VE Day 80th Anniversary celebrations, paying respects and remembering those who served overseas and at home during WW2 and celebrating the beginning of the end of WW2.

Monday 5th May: Marden house, New Road Calne, 10am to 3pm
All are welcome to attend this free event, where there will be crafts to take part in, games to play, circus skills, giant garden games, pottery painting, vintage cars, and live music from Retro Rita.

Best of all, everything is free!!!
Bring a picnic and enjoy what looks to be good weather, in the garden of Marden House.
You can also meet our local Army Cadets, Royal British legion, and RAFA, and find out more about who they are and what they do.
Thursday 8th May:
Join Calne Town Crier and Calne Mace bearer at the Proclamation steps of St Mary’s Church, Calne at 11am, where the national proclamation will be read, before moving to the Cenotaph within the church grounds where there will be a reading lead by Rev Caspar Bush.
The Royal British Legion (Calne Branch) will also lay a bouquet of Red, white and blue flowers in commemoration.
After, veterans are welcomed back to the Town Hall for a fish and chip lunch, pre-registration required (free for 80+).

Between the 5th and 8th May, Calne will be joining the nation in celebration of the 80th Anniversary of VE Day.
- Bring and Share picnic at Marden House on Monday 5th May
- Heritage Centre open 5th May for an exhibition display focusing on WW2 in the Calne area.
- Service at War Memorial on 8th May.
