Swindon’s American Football team ‘Swindon Storm’ took on Hereford Stampede at home o Sunday (11th May).
Hereford won the toss and decided to kick to Swindon. A stumble early in the first quarter gave Hereford the first touchdown of the game scored by Herefords number 99, followed up with a successful filed goal putting Hereford in the lead 7-0.

With Swindon’s defence holding firm into the second quarter, the team pushed forward to get a well deserved touchdown, coming from Swindon’s number 26 Will Jones with Hereford blocking the field goal attempt, leaving the score Swindon 6 – 7 Hereford.
Towards the end of the second quarter, Swindon’s number 15 Ally Kay was too fast for Herefords defence, running over the line to give Swindon their second touchdown, followed by a successful field goal, making the score Swindon 13 – 7 Hereford.
With half-time out the way, the third quarter saw Hereford fight back, pushing forward, only to be denied from a fantastic tackle from Swindon’s defence, just three yards out, denying Herefords number 3 a touchdown, but Swindon couldn’t keep Hereford out of their end zone on the second down, followed by a successful field goal putting Hereford back in the lead, Swindon 13 – 14 Hereford.

With just the forth quarter left, Swindon held on well with a strong defence, pushing all the way to the winning touchdown from Swindon’s number 26 Will Jones.
With Swindon in the lead, and the clock ticking to the end of the forth quarter, the team kept the pressure on, leading to a great move and run over the line by Swindon’s number 11 Alex Barnes.

Hereford managed to deny Swindon a final field goal, but it was too late for a comeback, Swindon saw out the last few minutes of the final quarter, holding strong in their defence, digging in hard to the final whistle and a win over Hereford.
Final Score: Swindon Storm 19 – 14 Hereford Stampede.
