Bristol-based art consultancy, Artelier, are inviting applications for two major new public artworks at the Panattoni Park in Stratton (the former Honda site).
Two different artists will be appointed for the two new artworks – a main entrance sculpture to bring to life the rich industrial and engineering history of the site, and a woodland sculpture. They are particularly seeking applications from artists based in Swindon and Wiltshire for the woodland sculpture commission.

Panattoni is the world’s largest privately owned industrial developer, with 59 offices worldwide. This will be Panattoni’s flagship development in the UK, and will achieve net zero carbon in construction and BREEAM
Excellent.

The Panattoni Swindon site will span 360 acres, redeveloping a previous industrial site comprising the former Honda motor car manufacturing plant. The new site will deliver best-in-class logistics, industrial and data real estate, providing a significant new hub in the South West with connections to the capital.
The project will see enhanced green infrastructure to include a watercourse, wildlife corridors, park areas and a 10% net gains in biodiversity. The park at the rear of the site will be accessible to local communities, retaining existing woodland.
There are two opportunities for artists, the main entrance sculpture which will be situated in the middle of the roundabout at the main entrance to the site and the second will be situated in the woodland to the rear of the site.
The main entrance sculpture will commissioned to celebrate the history of the site as a former airfield and its heritage, such as where the famous Spitfire was built during WW2, and its industrial heritage. This main sculpture will be best suited to Mid-Career artists who have past experience and understands managing a commission of such scale.
The woodland sculpture will be a medium scale sculpture and will look to explore different themes. Artists from the local area of Swindon and the surrounding area, including emerging artists are welcome to apply.
Speaking to Artelier, an art consultancy based in Bristol run by artists for artists who blend creativity with a commitment to sustainability, aiming to positively impact generations, told Entertainment Swindon, they ask for artists to involve local fabricators and others needed to produce the sculpture from the Swindon area making it a truly local community created piece of work.

Shortlisted artists will be interviewed week commencing 16th June 2025, and required to submit a development proposal by 4th July 2025, where the successful artists will be appointed soon after.
