Is The Accountant 2 worth seeing?

Although, the pace of the movie midway through gets a bit slow, this sequel to the 2016 The Accountant is definitely worth watching, grab a couple beers, a bottle of wine, a takeout this weekend, put your feet up and check out The Accountant 2 on Amazon Prime.

Its a sequel, it’s about a guy that ultimately is a killer, so don’t expect the storyline to be wildly different, theres plenty of action, and comedic moments, it’s entertaining and well worth the watch. In some ways, even an improvement on the original.

It’s nine years on, so worth watching the 2016 film first to recap on Christian Wolff’s (played by Ben Affleck) back story, so if you have Sky, you can watch there or you will have to pay to view on streaming services such as Amazon.

The Accountant Christian Wolff is an autistic mathematical genius, a forensic accountant and money launderer. Both the 2016 movie and sequel treat Wolff’s neurodivergence as a superpower. The original 2016 instalment did average at the cinema, wasn’t great, wasn’t crap, but in 2017, The Accountant was the most rented movie that year in the US, gaining a loyal following wishing for a sequel.

The Accountant 2 reunites several of the main cast from the first movie, including his handler Justine (Allison Robertson), Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), a former ally of sorts from the treasury department’s financial crimes enforcement office, J.K Simmons as Raymond King, former Director of the Treasury Department’s FinCEN who in this second instalment is semi-retired, and Braxton (Jon Bernthal) his estranged hitman brother.

This second movie is definitely more fun than the first, and still has plenty of action, and shoot them up scenes. Wolff is now living in his Airstream, keeping to himself until Medina pulls him into a case involving the death of someone close to the both of them involving an organised crime network based out of a fish shop involved into human trafficking, the plot is bad, but lets face it, we aren’t watching this for plot! Wolff calls upon his brother Braxton who go onto fill bodybags for our pleasure.

So kick back on the sofa, open a beer for this ludicrous adrenaline action flic and enjoy!
