Today (Saturday 14th June 2025) saw the latest under 16s darts tournament take place at Sweets Galore in the Brunel Shopping Centre.

Lollies & More Sweets Galore, commonly called Sweets Galore based in the Brunel Shopping Centre transformed half their sweets store into a darts area back in May, with four dart boards aimed at giving kids a safe environment to play darts outside of a pub environment.

As well as installing this darts area for kids to turn up and pay just £6 (£6 is for booking the darts board, so if six friends book, it costs just £1per child) for an hours darts with their friends, the sweets store have set up a darts club which they are looking to develop and regular under 16s darts tournaments.

Todays tournament was exciting to watch the two finalists square up against each other on the oche. It started off well for Finley McCulloch, winning the first two Legs, but in the best of three Leg match, but in the third Leg, his opponent Brody took one back and then levelled the game, to play off in the fifth Leg to decide the winner.

Finley, todays runner-up.

The fifth Leg was close, but Brody came through to win. Watching the tournament today, it shows how the likes of Luke Littler has ignited the interest of the game in kids.

Todays winner, Brody.

In Swindon alone, there has not just been a surge of interest in darts in kid, but new darts leagues have sprouted up, including huge interest in the women’s game, a beginners club and also local businesses such as the Swindon Darts Hub and Odin Darts have found huge success, drawing customers as far as Europe!
