The Fantastic Four – First Steps World Premier was at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles on 21st July, as the first film in Phase Six of the MCU. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, and a sequel is already in development.
The Fantastic Four – First Steps is a super hero film based on Marvel Comics first family super hero team the Fantastic Four, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
The movie is the 37th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the latest reboot of the Fantastic Four film series. The film is directed by Matt Shakman from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Eric Pearson, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer, and features an ensemble cast including Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn as Marvels First Family.

The movie is set in a retro-futuristic 1960s alternative universe, on Earth-828, and see’s the Fantastic Four take on the planet-devouring cosmic being Galactus and the Silver Surfer.
Before they become The Fantastic Four, astronauts Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm embark on a mission into outer space, however cosmic rays hit the team, giving them superhuman abilities. Four years later, the team now known as The Fantastic Four have become celebrities and world protectors.
When the Silver Surfer appears to announce to the people of Earth that their planet has been marked for destruction by Galactus, The Fantastic Four must protect Earth from the most powerful enemy they have ever encountered.
The movie is a true love letter to The Fantastic Four’s creator, Jack Kirby, the first ever superhero family who were introduced to the comic book pages in 1961, after Martin Goodman directed Stan Lee to create a comic book team of superheroes to rival the Justice League of America. The creation of The Fantastic Four was a joint collaboration between Kirby and Lee, the artwork from Kirby and the writing from Lee. Claims of who was the ultimate creator of The Fantastic Four go back to the very early days of the superhero family, both claiming the overall creation, but most will say, the creation of The Fantastic Four was down to Kirby.
From the beginning, the superhero family, went up against some great recurring villains, such as Doctor Doom, the Silver Surfer, Galactus, Mole Man, Skrull and many more, making The Fantastic Four a huge success.

Unfortunately, The adaptation to the big screen has been more miss than hit… It started with a low budget attempt by Roger Corman in 1994, after the film rights to The Fantastic Four were acquired by Bernd Eichinger in 1986. A trailer did make its way to the movie theatres, but the movie was never officially released, some accused the film of being an ashcan copy, produced to just keep hold of the film rights.
Ultimately Marvel Comics paid in exchange for the films negative, so 20th Century Fox could go ahead with a big budget adaptation.
Between 2005-2007, 20th Century Fox put out two Fantastic Four movies, Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four – Rise of the Silver Surfer. As Fantastic Four movies go, these two are probably the better of the adaptations to 2015. The final movie adaptation produced prior to this years long awaited release, was most definitely the worst of the more recent adaptations, and was a complete box office bomb and was luckily the last Fantastic Four movie produced by 20th Century Fox was sold to Disney, reverting the movie rights back to Marvel.
Back to this years release, Marvel has done quite literally a Fantastic job! The use of the 1960s retro-future was genius and gave it the perfect launch for The Fantastic Four to be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
No spoilers, but we will save you sitting in the cinema longer than you want, or feel you need to… Marvel fans are used to sitting for the complete credits to pass by to give us a teaser for whats to come, well the teaser comes a little earlier than normal, however, if you are happy to sit through the complete credits, you will get a little cartoon homage to the First Family of Marvel and to their creator Jack Kirby.
The Fantastic Four movie teaser at the end of The Fantastic Four – First Steps, sets up the franchise for something very special!
