Get ready for another awesome weekend of live music around Swindon! We have one of the best, if not the best live music scenes in the South West, with venues like MECA, The Vic,

Thursday

The Vic

Formed by Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy sadly before he passed away – GRAND SLAM Top tier hard rock with support from MIKE ROSS

Back in the post-Lizzy days, Laurence Archer wrote and performed with Phil Lynott. Grand Slam was cut short in it’s prime, leaving a hole in the fabric of rock music. Laurence has nurtured a long-term plan to rebuild the Grand Slam machine, and here it is, blue printed and ready to race.

This new band (Laurence along with compadres Mike Dyer, Benjy Reid and Rocky Newton), honours the traditions of rock and Laurence’s song writing dynasty, but also looks to the future – the classic tracks sit alongside a set of brand spanking new rock anthems that embody the same ethos of freedom, positivity and adrenalin that ran through Grand Slam in 1984.

With this pedigree, it is no surprise that this band is a live monster, ready and raring to ransack stages around the world. Look out for tour announcements soon.

The brand new album Wheel Of Fortune was released to critical acclaim on Silver Lining Music June 7th 2024.

On tour with SAXON from February 2025

FLO & THE ESCAPE LANE (Trio)

The excellent Flo & The Escape Lane are back at The Castle this Thursday night!

The trio experience is a night of semi-acoustic versions of Flo’s indie-folk-rock-something songs, lyrical story-telling against a backdrop of artful piano and ambient lead guitar

Support from Heron Island, an indie-folk project comprised of Chaz Thorogood and Giles Nuttall – two friends and musicians who grow up by the sea in south Devon and have come together to create honest music they love. Built around melodic guitar and raw vocals, it is music for being outdoors, for self-reflection and growth, for travelling and returning home – all recorded off-grid in a houseboat on the River Avon.

  • Live music from 8.30pm.
  • Free entry but bring cash for the artists tip-jar.

Get ready for the amazing street punk rock n rollers all the way from Seattle USA, The Drowns! With support from Charred Hearts & Hot Flab.

Seattle rockers The Drowns have unleashed their latest salvo of blue-collar punk rock ’n roll: Blacked Out. Returning to the studio for this LP with longtime producer Ted Hutt (Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, The Gaslight Anthem), the band have laid down a collection of songs that fuse their varied influences brilliantly – from the boogie-woogie shuffle roots of original 50s rock ’n roll, to the strutting swagger of 70s glam & “bovver rock,” to the gritty rabble-rousing of ’77 style anthemic street punk – into a laser-tight, cohesive sound that is unmistakably theirs.
