Many of you will have noticed that work on the redevelopment of Barra Park is now in full swing. The approved plans – shaped through extensive community consultation, including sessions with local primary schools – include a full-size Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), dedicated play zones for infants & juniors, and an exhilarating zip wire.

We’re grateful to residents – especially local families – for their patience and understanding throughout the construction period. The project is on track for completion in November 2025.

Earlier this summer, Highworth Town Council announced that work on the much anticipated redevelopment of Barra Close Play Area would begin on 4th August 2025. The initial phase saw the Town Council team on site, removing the existing play park equipment in preparation of the contractors, who have been brought in to install the new play facilities.

The approved design was approved after extensive community consultation. The final design features a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) which will include basketball hoops, and football goals. There will also be an infant and junior play park and an exciting zip-wire!

The long awaited work has been progressing quickly, with the MUGA area already with the foundations laid, perimeter posts in place as well as the Basketball Hoops at each end of the MUGA without causing an major disruption to park users.

The council thanked the residents, especially the local families for their patience and understanding during the work, which is expected to be completed in November 2025.
