Swindon based writer Jodie Potter and a team of filmmakers have launched a Kickstarter Campaign to help fund their independent British comedy-drama Parent Pitch, which follows parents Mike and Katrina through the highs, lows and humorous lengths parents go to for their children.
The original project was planned to be a TV series, with the pilot episode directed by Daniel Ackroyd is themed around football dreams, theatrical ambitions, and a quirky obsession with Richard Gere, this story is both heartfelt and relatable.
Speaking to Jodie Potter, she said: “We are raising funds to support our feature film, which will cover production expenses and ensure that all children involved have a safe and positive experience on set, along with our adult cast members and crew members.
By supporting this project, you are helping to create a truly independent British film that embodies heart, humour, and a sense of community. Together, we can make this dream a reality and enjoy watching the amusing things parents do for their children. As a token of our gratitude, every donor will receive the same rewards, no matter the amount contributed. We value all support equally and want everyone who helps bring Parent Pitch to life to enjoy the same thanks”.
Risks and challenges
Like any independent film, Parent Pitch comes with its creative and logistical challenges — but our team is ready to tackle them head-on. With a modest budget, every pound counts, so we’ve built a focused production plan, secured local locations, and scheduled carefully around cast and crew availability to stay efficient without compromising quality. We’re also committed to full transparency — backers will receive regular updates, behind-the-scenes content, and honest communication throughout the journey from pre-production to final cut. Updates and behind-the-scenes posts will also be shared on our Instagram so supporters can follow the film’s progress in real time. Click HERE for the official Parent Pitch Instagram page.
Filming begins in January 2026, and the team are keen to get the public involved to support the film by donating to their KickStarter Campaign, just Click the link HERE to support.
The donations will help bring this relatable local film to the screen and support Jodie and the hard working team which includes Director Gabe Louis (Wet Toe Productions), actor Paul Cooper (BBC Three’s This Country), Lee Chamberlain and the children from Thomford Theatre Academy & Stage Coach Cheltenham.
