This Sunday, a dedicated team from The Meadows Unit at Great Western Hospital are set to Brave the Shave to raise funds to improve the experience of patients undergoing cancer treatment.

On Sunday 1st March, Nurses Sharon, Tracy, and Mandi, along with one of the team’s administrators Clair will brave the shave at SOLO Hairdressers, Grange Drive, Stratton, in a powerful show of solidarity with the patients they care for every day.

The Meadows is an outpatient unit supporting patients with a cancer diagnosis who are receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy, as well as supportive treatments. Funds raised through the event will go directly towards purchasing equipment to enhance the overall patient experience within the unit.

Sharon explained the motivation behind the challenge:

“We have decided to shave our hair to raise money for our department. The money raised will be used to purchase equipment that will lead to a better patient experience.”

The team is encouraging the local community to get involved by donating and showing their support. Donations can be made via the fundraising page, by scanning the QR code.
