As a Jaguar owner, its been a very disappointing journey watching the heritage of Jaguar that we have all grown up to love, whether you are an owner, past or present on not, being seemingly thrown into the woke, weird TikTok generation world, that saw the strange launch that did not even see a car, and showed what could only be described as a live action advert of the Muppet Show with bright colours needing us to wear sunglasses to watch, it was if we had been invaded by strange aliens from another world. Odd so called fashion and haircuts, and yes still no car!

As the Type 00 concept was launched along with changes to the iconic branding that has been at the heart of Jaguars heritage, the motoring industry press/media and owners, along with most of the public, gasped in dismay! What had JLR done to the iconic British Heritage Brand?
Many reported the pink concept car looked like the Pink Panther car, for those old enough to remember the cartoon from 70s/80s, I’d say, the Pink Panther car looked cool! This 00 concept car looked hideous and a mishmash of multiple cars, although JLR continued to spout the mantra “Copy Nothing”. The Type 00 concept had Porsche 911, Aston Martin, Chrysler Crossfire and a few others, so the copy nothing mantra was just not true! Then there was the font changing of Jaguar’s name, JaGUar, its like a 4yr old learning to write was given the job of creating the new look to the car brands name, it looks weird, it did not need changing, it was re-inventing the wheel. Finally, going full electric… OK, yes, I get it, electric is the future of the motoring world, and dinosaurs like myself I guess have to accept it, though, I will for as long as I can hold onto the beauty of the combustion engine!
Like other Jaguar owners, we have been hanging our heads in just total dismay of a heritage brand we have loved for decades, but I’m going to try and put that aside and try and be positive, I really want to love the future of Jaguar!
Luckily, the Jaguar GT actually looks pretty good, it doesn’t look too much like the Pink Panther concept, its got some aspects of it, luckily the good aspects of the concept design, the sloping back end that looked awful, now looks more like todays Ford Mustang, I like that! It doesn’t look like some stretched out version of Lady Penelope’s pink Rolls look short! It’s got more of the bonnet of the Jaguar XE. It has a little muscle car vibe to it, I like it! Though it just doesn’t look like a Jaguar any longer.
Jaguar have been putting the GT through its paces in sub-zero temperatures of the Arctic Circle also validating the four-door GT’s advanced ThermAssist technology. The pioneering system helps to reduce energy consumption by up to 40%, and aims to recover heat to warm the propulsion system or cabin in temperatures as low as minus 10°C (14°F) – all while optimising driving range.
Jaguar claim the GT will be a drive like no other, and as captivating to drive as it is to look at, true to the spirit of Jaguar. Well, this is where I cant keep fully positive about Jaguar’s current position, as much as I do actally like the GT’s look, I still see it as a copy of multiple current cars, the front end looks like the square boxy Chrysler 300C, the rear has a Mustang vibe, and the sliver lights on both front and rear look like almost every electric car on the market today.
Back to being positive, Jaguar since the inception of the E-Pace have been working on making the brand leaders in the world of electric vehicles, with a step-change in their technical ambitions, innovative electric propulsion combined with unique proportions and a low centre of gravity for the most advanced and powerful Jaguar production car ever made.
