The Castle

BLACK HATS – Support from DAVID CORRIGAN

It is a welcome return to The Castle for one of SoP’s all time favourites, Black Hats!

Black Hats are a band constructed round solid grooves from a rhythm section that are built on deft, reggae-infused bass lines and skittering drum beats. These grooves are then welded to razor wire guitars with an anxious, new wave energy and melodies with the same sharp and melodic punk edge that also served the likes of The Jam so well. Finish it all off with witty and catchy lyrics and you have all the ingredients of a great night of music.

Support from David Corrigan the former Astral Ponies frontman armed with a faithful, if slightly battered, acoustic guitar. You can expect stripped-down versions of some Pony classics, the usual country-tinged laments, and dusty old folk. IF recent sets are anything to go by, there will be a motley crew of guests popping up on stage too..

Music from 8.30pm. Pay-What-You-Want (entry is free but the hat will be passed round so please bring cash

Time: 8pm

The Tuppenny

JODY & THE JERMS

Remember when pop was fun? When guitars were huge, choruses even bigger, and every song felt like a sugar rush you could dance to? Jody and the Jerms definitely do.

Hatching in Oxford and debuting at the now-legendary (but sadly defunct) Wheatsheaf in February 2020, they’ve been on a mission ever since: crafting melodic, uplifting indie/alt pop that’s equal parts fuzzy, infectious, and gloriously dayglo.

Think The Darling Buds, The Primitives, with a wink of The Bangles — “almost like power pop… or jangle pop. Lovely,” says Radcliffe & Maconie, BBC 6 Music.

Buckle up: this is fun, furious, and impossible not to sing along to

Time: 8:30pm

Beehive

JIM BLAIR

Hip Route/JB & the Mojo Makers front man playing solo. Still cool, still funky, still no socks! And if the songs don’t draw you in then the banter will!

Time: 8:30pm

Mad Hatters Wine Bar Cirencester

MiCa

Time: 9pm

Village Inn Liddington

Jam Nite
