Chippenham Cricket Club marked their first fixture of the 2026 T20 Wiltshire Wallop tournament with a confident home game against Goatacre. Despite challenging weather conditions, the match showcased impressive individual performances and solid teamwork from both sides.

Goatacre won the toss and chose to bat first. Chippenham struck early with a wicket in the first over, thanks to an outstanding catch by Max Trotman. Goatacre fought back with some steady runs, highlighted by Toby Kershaw’s excellent batting. However, Chippenham’s bowlers maintained pressure, with Zac Betteridge delivering a key wicket and James King contributing with a sharp catch. Ultimately, Goatacre were bowled out for 115 runs in 19.3 overs, setting a competitive but achievable target.
When it was Chippenham’s turn to bat, they wasted no time in chasing down the target. Max Trotman led the charge with an impressive innings that included eight fours and three sixes, before being caught out by Toby Kershaw. The team continued to build momentum despite a wicket from Goatacre’s Lahiru bowling out Arthur Trotman. With steady contributions from the rest of the batting lineup, Chippenham reached 116 runs in just 9.5 overs, securing a comfortable seven-wicket victory.
This win sets a positive tone for Chippenham as they prepare for their next match, an away game against Royal Wootton Bassett scheduled for the evening of 24th May 2026 at 6pm.
