The popular community choir festival, Sing Out for a Brighter Future, will return for its fifth year on 20th and 21st June, bringing together 27 choirs from Swindon and the surrounding areas for a weekend of music, community spirit and fundraising.

On Saturday 20th June, a variety of choirs will perform at Immanuel Church, Upham Road, from 9.30am to 9.00pm. The festival continues on Sunday 21st June at St Paul’s Church, Covingham, where more choirs will take to the stage between 2.30pm and 6.00pm.

The event began in 2021 with 20 choirs performing on a single day, shortly after choirs were able to resume singing following the COVID-19 lockdowns. For many groups, it was their first opportunity to perform again in public. Since then, the festival has grown into a much-loved annual event and a highlight of the local choir calendar.
Unlike competitive music festivals, Sing Out for a Brighter Future is all about encouragement and community. Choirs come together to perform and support one another in a relaxed, welcoming environment, with no judging or comparisons – just a shared love of singing.

Everyone is welcome to attend, whether they sing in a choir or simply enjoy live music. Visitors are free to stay for as many performances as they wish and can come and go throughout the day. The festival also offers a fantastic opportunity for anyone considering joining a choir to discover the wide range of groups available in Swindon. With so many different styles represented, there really is a choir for everyone.
Since its launch, the event has raised more than £10,000 for Brighter Futures. Attendees are invited to make a minimum donation of £2 using the donation buckets located throughout the churches, while additional donations are welcomed in exchange for refreshments.

By supporting the festival, visitors will not only enjoy a wonderful celebration of local music but also help raise vital funds for an important local cause. Further information can be found on the Sing out for a Brighter Future Facebook page.
