Craig Parsons, from Fairford, has organised the second annual Charity Football Match in aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK, in memory of my Nan, Doreen Nicholls.
Last year, thanks to the incredible support of our local community, the charity game raised over £2,400, and this year, organisers hope to raise even more.
The event takes place on Saturday 12th July, kicking off at 1:00pm at Fairford Town FC. It promises to be a fantastic family day with football, a licensed bar, food from Spikes Diner, a bouncy castle for the children and a huge charity raffle featuring more than 12 fantastic prizes.
Speaking to Craig, he told Entertainment Swindon: “The reason I organise the event is deeply personal. After losing my Nan to pancreatic cancer in 2024, I wanted to do something positive in her memory while raising awareness of a disease that often doesn’t receive the attention it deserves.
In the lead-up to the event, I’m also running a ‘12 Days, 12 Facts‘ campaign across social media to help educate people about pancreatic cancer and why early awareness is so important”.
