First look at the spectacular lanterns featuring in The Festival of Light at Longleat this winter.

The stunning images give a glimpse of the spectacular which will this year feature a mythical phoenix rising from the ashes, the legendary Arthur pulling the sword from the stone and the Greek god Poseidon.

The pictures have been released to showcase the theme, Legendary Worlds, which takes over the Wiltshire estate from 7th November with the build starting within weeks.

Featuring mythical and legendary scenes reimagined in lantern form from the Lost City of Atlantis to Thor’s battle with a serpent, a Trojan horse, dragons, giants and fairies, there’s plenty to discover, says Head of Operations Scott Ashman.

“Longleat was the first to bring a lantern trail like this to the UK, indeed Europe back in 2014 and each year the lanterns create a series of dramatic wow moments for guests.

“There’s 2.5km of lanterns to explore bringing sparkle and light to the dark winter months. Not forgetting we also have our Enchanted Christmas Tree Show, Santa’s Grotto and festive market huts.

“This year The Festival of Light also brings an end to our celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Drive-Through Safari and we’ve seen quite a baby boom this summer so visitors will hopefully be able to see our new tiger cubs, wolf pups, capybara cubs, and red panda cub experiencing their first Christmas”, he said.

Tickets and more information on The Festival of Light which runs on selected dates until 10th January 2027 can be found at longleat.co.uk
