Frome Town opened the scoring threat early when Warren Maidment headed a set-piece delivery over the bar. Chippenham responded with sustained pressure, initiating several penalty box scrambles, including one sparked by Luke Haines’ long throw. Although Josh Marcon’s subsequent shot went wide, Chippenham created their best opportunity of the half when Will King set up Taylor-Crossdale inside the area, only for his effort to be valiantly blocked. Additional chances fell to Taylor-Crossdale from distance and Dylan Jones, making his home debut, but neither could find the target.

The second half began with Chippenham asserting dominance. Felix Miles and Jones both missed opportunities to extend the lead, while goalkeeper Jack Witchard was called into action to make a crucial double save from Frome’s first significant chances. Chippenham continued to press, with Haines volleying and Taylor-Crossdale shooting narrowly wide, but they failed to capitalise on their superiority.

The pivotal moment arrived shortly after halftime. A swift counter-attack from Frome culminated in a cross from Albert Hopkins to Jon Davies at the far post, who tapped in to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Just seven minutes later, Frome doubled their advantage during a scramble in the six-yard box, with Zak Drew bundling the ball home to make it 2-0. Despite late efforts from Haines and others in the final quarter, Chippenham could not recover, and the full-time whistle confirmed the loss. The team now turns its attention to this Saturday’s home clash against Poole Town.
