Dreams will come true for two Longleat team members when they take part in the London Marathon 2027.
As Longleat celebrated the 60th anniversary of its iconic Drive-Through Safari, the park celebrated with two places in the famous London Marathon, fundraising for long-time conservation partner, Tusk.
With 2027’s London Marathon prepped to be the biggest yet, runners Fenia Vitali, General Manager of Cheddar Gorge & Caves, and Danny Baker, House & Collections Steward, are both taking part on Sunday 25 April and will also be supporting Tusk.
Fenia said “I’ve dreamt of taking on the iconic London marathon for 10 years, as it’s such a famous event in our capital with an amazing crowd. Having previously run the Paris marathon, I’m excited to take on another challenge.
“I’m particularly passionate about running on behalf of Tusk. At 19 years old, I had the privilege of travelling to Kenya with the Dorset Expeditionary Society, supporting community projects and the chance to visit Maasai Mara National Reserve.
“I’ll never forget the experience of seeing lions, elephants and cheetahs in their natural habitat, and it’s an experience which sparked a lifelong passion for wildlife conservation.”
Danny said, “While I haven’t run a marathon, I did run the Spartan Beast earlier this year, a 21km obstacle course race.
“I love to keep challenging myself, and this marathon is the perfect opportunity to do so. I like to keep progressing and want to help inspire people, particularly my daughter, to keep fit and that they can achieve anything.
“I’m not naturally a long-distance runner, so I need to continue building my consistency and discipline, but to do so for such a great cause is a privilege. Tusk do such important work throughout Africa and to help raise money and spread awareness through the marathon is important to me.”
Both Fenia and Danny will be fundraising in the lead up to the event, with quizzes, raffles, fancy dress and more planned. To donate to their fundraisers, please use the links below.
