CTFC played out a 1-1 draw with Hanworth Villa on Tuesday night, with Henry Sady’s first-half strike cancelled out by a penalty.

Town made four changes from Saturday’s defeat. Jac Poffley and Nana Owusu replaced Martell Taylor-Crossdale and Ben Richards-Everton, with the latter ruled out due to injury. Two debutants also came in, with new signing Fiachra Pagel starting in goal, and Brad Selwood starting in midfield.

The match started open, with Chippenham launching crosses into the area, cleared away by a strong home defence.

The home side had the first chance, with Brandon Barzey having a shot well blocked by Luke Haines.

Chippenham’s first chance came thanks to a great cross from Marley Rose aimed for Owusu, with the forward’s acrobatic effort just wide.

The Bluebirds’ breakthrough came on 12 minutes. A ball forward aimed for Felix Miles was cleared, with Poffley finding Henry Sady who twisted and turned before shooting into the top left corner to give Town the lead. A really fantastic strike from Sady for his second of the season.

Much of the remainder of the first half saw Hanworth having the ball, but Chippenham fashioned a chance through Dylan Jones. The wing-back moved from right to left before his low cross was held by Pat Nash.

Fiachra Pagel in the Chippenham goal was busy, with shots from Barzey and Giovanni McGregor palmed away.

Just two minutes into the second half came the flash point, as the home side were awarded a penalty. Joe Adoo-Peters was passed the ball inside of the penalty area, with his touch poor and heading to a Town defender, the Hanworth player’s movement seemed to bring him into Town goalkeeper Pagel and then down, with the referee Bruno Marques pointing to the spot. The penalty was shot low past the ‘keeper by Haydon Vaughan for a level match.

With the second-half ebbing on, Hanworth continued to come forward, with a ball from right to left across the area tapped wide from close range by Abdullah Javaid.

Chippenham plugged away to make chances in the second half, with Jones and Petrynski having dangerous crosses cleared away before reaching free targets inside of the area.

The final moments of six added minutes brought long deliveries forward that were cleared by Chippenham, with the final whistle coming as Town could have had a break forward.
