Chippenham Town booked their place in the second round of the FA Youth Cup after overcoming Eastleigh 5-3 on penalties following a hard-fought 1-1 draw at the Thornbury Surfacing Stadium.
The visitors struck first midway through the opening half. Eastleigh’s Artem Mosiakin delivered a dangerous ball from the left that drifted over goalkeeper Austin Branston and into the net, giving the young Spitfires a 29th-minute lead.
Chippenham responded positively and created several opportunities before the break. Ashton Arlow and Fin Davies both went close, while Elvan Repkovas narrowly missed the target after being picked out by a superb cross from captain Harry Feeney.

The Bluebirds continued to press after half-time and eventually found the breakthrough their performance deserved. In the 62nd minute, Feeney embarked on a determined run through the Eastleigh defence before calmly firing a low effort into the bottom corner to level the scores at 1-1.
Both sides had chances to edge ahead in the closing stages of normal time. Eastleigh threatened through captain Freddie Beeson and goalscorer Mosiakin, while Arlow remained a constant danger for the hosts. However, neither side could find a winner and the tie moved into extra time
Extra time proved equally tense, with Arlow forcing several saves from Eastleigh goalkeeper Reece Kelly. Despite the best efforts of both teams, the deadlock remained unbroken after 120 minutes, setting up a penalty shootout
Chippenham held their nerve from the spot, converting five penalties to Eastleigh’s three to seal progression to the second round. The victory marked a memorable night for the Young Bluebirds, who showed resilience to recover from going behind and ultimately emerged victorious in dramatic fashion.
