THUD

If blues and soul, funk and rock ‘n’ roll all have a meeting point, it is in the heart of the music that THUD makes. But it is more than just music, this is all about the live show, which will be at turns fun, ferocious, sublime, silly, powerful, sonically poignant, and never anything but thoroughly entertaining.

The grooviest rhythm section this side of Philly, coupled with scintillating soul-blues guitar and a front man that you aren’t going to forget in a hurry.

Time: 8:30pm

REUBENS DAUGHTERS

It is a very welcome return to The Thursday Night Music Club for the stunning music of Reuben’s Daughters.

Conceived in Barton Creek, TX, USA (after missing a plane home…) Reuben’s Daughters is the musical brain-child of Bath-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Reuben Myles Tyghe, of alt-rock trio and long-time friends of SoP, Port Erin.

Reuben Myles Tyghe’s recently released second album as Reuben’s Daughters, Leylanding, finds the UK singer/songwriter pushing the sound of his 2022 debut LP Mami Wata into new and fascinating places—recalling The Sea and Cake’s airy post-rock sonics, the woolly chamber-pop of Super Furry Animals godhead Gruff Rhys, and The Beta Band’s more acoustic moments.

“Reuben’s Daughters is a moonlight swim under a weeping willow slide guitar forest… Ghosts and clouds turn into melodies that crouch on the banks and whisper pictures into your brain. “Mami Wata” is a cool album!” Particle Kid – Micah Nelson, son of Willie Nelson and member of current Neil Young backing band The Chrome Hearts)

”Who knew some of the sunniest new music in the world could be crafted in the southwest of England?” – Kelley Stoltz (Castle Face / Sub Pop / Third Man Records)
