Blue Beard & The Desperate Hours + John Coventry

Bluebeard and the Desperate Hours are a piano-driven pop-rock band, drawing on the emotional directness of Springsteen, the energetic positivity of Coldplay and the well-crafted arrangements of Elbow.

Led by songwriter and pianist Davy Turner, the band perform melodic, hook-filled songs that place emotional honesty and connection at the centre. The core six-piece line-up of vocals, piano, guitar, bass, drums, trumpet and cello allows the music to move easily between intimacy and scale.

Support is from former Swindon musician John Coventry. He was a member of Grubby Jack and Albion. After spending three years in California John began self releasing his material in 2019. He finally released his debut EP “A New Beginning” in March which will be available to purchase on the night. He also created and wrote the songs for AI singer Cordie Travis’s debut EP “Tides of Change” which was released on Friday 29th May. He is influenced by John Denver, Bob Dylan and Townes Van Zandt.

ZAMALANDO

Zambalando bring a vibrant, high-energy fusion of Afro-Latin rhythms that turns every performance into a celebration. Drawing inspiration from Salsa, Merengue, Lando, Festejo, Samba, and Bossa Nova, the band blends the musical traditions of South America with bold experimentation and modern flair. What sets Zambalando apart is their unique twist on these classic styles: intricate compound time signatures, layered percussion, and complex rhythmic structures that keep audiences moving while intriguing the ear.

At the heart of their sound is a powerful rhythmic engine rooted in Afro-Peruvian and Afro-Brazilian traditions, enriched by funk grooves and a subtle yet expressive jazz influence. Melodic lines weave effortlessly between tight horn-style phrasing and open, improvisational moments, creating music that is both danceable and deeply musical. Whether driving a packed dance floor or captivating listeners with rhythmic detail, Zambalando strike a balance between raw energy and sophisticated musicianship.

The result is a distinctive, original sound they proudly call Afro Latin Funk, music that feels familiar yet constantly surprising. When Zambalando take the stage, the sound of South America arrives in SN1—bold, infectious, and impossible to ignore
