Renault Trafic, number one in its segment in France and number two in Europe, continues to evolve with a series of upgrades designed to improve comfort, safety and driving pleasure. Renault Trafic models designed to carry goods or passengers now offer greater precision, smoother handling and a more confident everyday driving experience, with new electric power steering and an upgraded braking system. Other improvements include new safety features, tougher upholstery and a completely revamped multimedia system.

Smoother, more precise handling

Renault Trafic’s new electric power steering has been especially tuned for a more comfortable drive and more precise handling.

The new system reduces steering effort, particularly when driving and parking in cities. The steering also feels smoother and adjusting course is easier, providing a more natural and enjoyable drive. Improved on-centre stability helps the vehicle hold its course on the open road. And Renault has optimised the number of steering wheel turns from lock to lock to strike a better balance between agility in town and stability outside town.

The upgraded braking system, now featuring twin-piston front callipers and larger discs (up from 296 × 28 mm to a more substantial 320 × 30 mm), reduces pedal effort and delivers more progressive braking, giving drivers finer control over braking force and greater control of the vehicle whatever the driving conditions.

New comfort and safety features

Renault Trafic comes with new systems designed to make everyday driving more convenient and safer.

These include an advanced driver attention monitoring camera, and reversing cameras now come as standard throughout the line-up. Besides making manoeuvring easier, reversing cameras enhance safety, especially in cities, and simplify parking in tight spaces.

Inside, Renault Trafic Van features new dark grey marl fabric upholstery with blue stitching. As well as adding an eye-catching touch to the interior, the fabric is more resistant to wear and gives the cabin a more refined feel.

Renault Trafic also offers new 17-inch steel wheels and more aerodynamic wheel trims in single-colour and two-tone finishes.

A more modern and more practical multimedia environment

Renault Trafic now comes with a faster, more modern multimedia system. The touchscreen is now two inches larger (10 inches) so the information on it is easier to read, and its response times are twice as fast.

The OpenR Link multimedia system is now available in two configurations, and both support wireless smartphone mirroring via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The first comes without built-in navigation and the second includes navigation and access to apps. The latter now uses HERE mapping instead of TomTom.

Two new USB-C ports make life onboard Renault Trafic Van more convenient. Versions with a second or third row of seats have four USB-C ports per row, providing up to 80 W of charging power (enough to power a laptop).

LED lighting now comes as standard in the cabin and load area. In Renault Trafic Van, the brighter interior makes loading and unloading easier, particularly in low light.

A versatile range and simpler conversions with ‘converted by Renault’ and ‘convertor companion’

Renault Trafic comes in an extensive choice of versions to suit a broad range of needs, with two lengths (L1 and L2) and a choice of manual gearbox or nine-speed EDC automatic transmission. The factory-built line-up preserves the vehicle’s ergonomics and practicality and includes a crew van with the ‘converted by Renault’ label, passenger and wheelchair-accessible versions, and the Escapade leisure model. Its generous load width and carefully designed load area also make it an ideal base for a host of conversions by Renault’s 300 certified conversion partners.

The ‘converted by Renault’ label makes factory conversions straightforward for customers – with a factory-converted vehicle ready to go, a single point of contact, one invoice, one warranty and after-sales support covering both the vehicle and its conversion

The ‘convertor companion’ app takes this integration a step further. It is built into Renault Trafic’s multimedia system, enabling converters to replace the physical controls typically required to operate added equipment with controls on the central touchscreen. So the driver can for instance adjust the temperature in a refrigerated vehicle, control the lighting in a mobile workshop or operate some of the equipment in an emergency vehicle. This simplifies day-to-day use and avoids cluttering the dashboard with extra switches and controls.
